Let’s face it, this year hasn’t been the easiest. For the majority of 2020 we have all been in lockdown, and with the tier system now in place, some of the country still is. The Christmas celebrations with old friends, office parties and traditional Christmas markets may all be cancelled, but there are activities you can do at home to help feel festive.
Here are some of our favourite activities to make you merry over the Christmas period!
Contact An Old Friend
Christmas is the perfect time to contact an old friend you have not spoken to in a while. You could send a text or email, but of course being stationery lovers, we feel there is something wonderfully comforting and nostalgic about receiving a handwritten letter in the post. Spending some time to hand write a letter can really make your loved one feel cherished.
Make Festive Treats
Baking mince pies, cookies for Father Christmas, even just pouring yourself a hot chocolate with cream can really put you in a festive mood. Add flavours such as nutmeg or cinnamon to engage your senses and take you back to Christmases gone by.
Netflix Originals Or Classic Movies
There is nothing quite like putting on a set of soft winter pyjamas, getting cosy on the sofa, and watching your favourite or an unseen Christmas movie. There are plenty to choose from on all streaming channels, or you can check out the TV guide and see what movies are on live. Festive treats (see above) are also a must!
Get Crafty
There are a number of small businesses on Not On The High Street and Etsy who sell craft boxes to make your own baubles, wreaths, Christmas crackers and decorations. Creating unique and sentimental decorations can be a lovely way to make memories and feel more festive. You may be surprised how wonderful they turn out.
See The Christmas Lights
There is something very comforting and magical about watching the lights twinkle in the dark. Wrap up warm and take a little drive or walk around your local area to marvel at the beautiful Christmas lights. Check with your local area, but many towns and cities create a map of the areas that go above and beyond with their decorating.
